A grandmother in her late 60s, Aurelina ran a household of 8, taking care of her 7 grandchildren. Financial hardship had forced Aurelina’s son and daughter to leave the home. Aurelina’s daughter, the primary provider for the family, could only support her family for two-thirds of the month.
Unfortunately, this left Aurelina and her grand-children hungry for the remaining ten days.
Aurelina’s son, 16, had previously lived with the family – sporadically attending a middle/high school while also attempting to find work locally. But without means of transportation he could do neither on a regular basis. Aurelina had to ask him to leave the home as she simply could not afford to feed him on his sister's contributions.
One year later, however, upon receiving the new bicycle and Bible from Set in Motion, Aurelina tearfully expressed her thankfulness and excitement. She could not wait to surprise her son with the bike and welcome him back home to live! Aurelina’s son then used the household bike as transportation to a local worksite where he too earned money to supplement his sister’s income and enhance his family’s quality of life.
